To firefighters, there is no greater measure of courage than burn patients struggling to survive devastating injuries.
The heroism of burn survivors inspires the men and women of Manitoba’s Fire Service to volunteer their time and effort in raising funds to support exceptional burn care, treatment, rehabilitation and research.
The Firefighters Burn Fund was created in March, 1978 and is a registered charitable organization, duly incorporated in the Province of Manitoba. Originally organized by Winnipeg firefighters, the Burn Fund now involves and is supported by members of the Fire Service throughout Manitoba.
The Firefighters Burn Fund is a volunteer run organization. No salaries are paid to any Board Member or volunteer. The Burn Fund is not a member agency of The United Way, nor does it receive government grants. Therefore, we rely entirely on donations and proceeds from fundraising activities.
The Burn Fund supports ongoing educational opportunities for members of the Burn Team (Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists). This includes continuing educational seminars, conferences, developing research skills, etc.

As a volunteer-run organization, the Firefighters Burn Fund relies solely on the generous support of corporate sponsors and the proceeds from public fundraising activities.

Corporate Sponsorships
As a sponsor, your company is aligned with a recognized and respected fundraising organization. Your support of important initiatives such as: Camp Mamawi-the annual Childrens’ Burn Camp; the Mamingway Burn Survivor Society annual gathering of burn survivors, family members and caregivers; fire and burn prevention initiatives such as Fire Safety Trailers and support for the Chair in Burns and Trauma are some of the areas in which you will make a difference.
Volunteer Your Time
The Burn Fund is always looking for new people and new ideas. By volunteering your time and effort, you will be raising vital funds to support burn care, treatment, rehabilitation and research.
Make a Donation
Support the Firefighters Burn Fund and the members of Manitoba’s Fire Service in order to make a difference for those adults and children who suffer burn injuries.
Donations can be made in several ways: monetarily, as a gift in kind, as a designated beneficiary of an estate, of a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), including a Group RRSP, of a Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF), or of a life insurance policy, including a group life insurance policy.
The Burn Fund is not a member agency of the United Way; we rely entirely upon donations and fundraising activities.
